24/7 emergency electrical service in Southeast Louisiana
Some electrical problems can wait until Monday. Some cannot. If you are smelling something burning, watching an outlet spark, or seeing half the house go dark for no reason, that is the second kind.
Someone is on call around the clock. Call and tell us what you are seeing and where you are, and we will tell you straight away whether this needs someone tonight or whether it can safely wait until morning. We would rather talk you through it on the phone than have you guessing at two in the morning.
What we get called out for
- Partial power loss, where some of the house works and some does not
- A burning smell, scorch marks, or an outlet or switch that is hot
- Sparking outlets, switches or fixtures
- A main breaker that trips and will not reset
- Storm damage to the service, the mast or outdoor wiring
- Water that has reached outlets, a panel or a fixture
While you wait for us
- If you smell burning or see smoke, get everyone out and call 911 first. We come second.
- Do not keep resetting a breaker that trips straight back. It is tripping for a reason.
- Stay away from anything wet that is near power, and never stand in water to reach a panel.
- If an outlet, switch or fixture is hot to the touch, stop using that circuit and leave it alone.
- Keep the refrigerator and freezer closed. Food holds longer than most people expect.
How an emergency call goes
- 01
Call and tell us what you see
Describe what is happening, what it smells like and when it started. That is usually enough for us to know whether it needs someone tonight or can safely wait.
- 02
We make it safe first
Before anything gets repaired, the hazard gets shut down and isolated. Nothing stays energized while we figure out the cause.
- 03
We fix it, or we make it safe until we can
Some emergency work is a permanent fix in one visit. Some is a safe hold at two in the morning and a proper repair in daylight. We tell you which one you are getting.
Common questions
What actually counts as an electrical emergency?
Anything burning, smoking, sparking or hot to the touch. Water in or near a panel or outlets. A main breaker that will not stay on. Losing power to part of the house while the neighbors still have theirs. If you are not sure, call and describe it. Asking costs nothing.
The power is out. Is that the utility or my house?
If the whole street is dark it is the utility, and they have to restore it. If your house is dark and your neighbor's is not, or if only part of your house is out, the problem is on your side and we can help. The partial outage is the one people misread most often.
Should I keep flipping the breaker back on?
No. A breaker that trips immediately is telling you there is a fault on that circuit. Forcing it back over and over can turn a contained problem into a fire. Leave it off and call.
Do you really come out at night and on weekends?
Yes, someone is on call around the clock. For an emergency, call rather than text. You get a person instead of waiting on a reply.
What should I have ready when I call?
Your address, what you are seeing or smelling, when it started, and whether anything changed right before it did. If you know where your panel is, say so. That is usually enough for us to know what we are walking into.
